Semaglutide
A 31-amino-acid analogue of human glucagon-like peptide-1. The backbone carries an alpha-aminoisobutyric acid in place of alanine at position 8 and an arginine at position 34, and a C18 diacid chain is attached through a spacer at lysine 26. It binds the GLP-1 receptor, a class B G-protein-coupled receptor. The fatty-acid chain binds serum albumin, which is what slows its clearance relative to native GLP-1.
