Registered human trials
In the snapshot of 1 August 2026, the registry returned one match for CJC-1295 and it was verified. For ipamorelin it returned three loose matches, of which two were confirmed to name ipamorelin as an intervention.12
CJC-1295's entry is NCT00267527, a phase-2 study in patients with HIV and visceral obesity, registered in 2005 and recorded as terminated. A terminated study is one that stopped early; the registry entry does not by itself say why, and a terminated trial cannot support a conclusion about the compound.3
Ipamorelin's verified entries are two phase-2 studies in postoperative gastrointestinal recovery — NCT00672074 and NCT01280344 — both recorded as completed and both placebo-controlled. Neither concerns growth-hormone release, body composition or recovery from training.45

Furthest phase reached
Phase 2 is the ceiling for both. Neither compound has a registered phase-3 study, and neither has a phase-4 record, which would require an approval to exist first.12
Ipamorelin's ceiling is reached by completed studies and CJC-1295's by a terminated one. That is a real difference in what the phase label is standing on, and it is invisible if you compare only the highest phase reached.345
Regulatory status
Neither compound has an approved product. Both appear on FDA's published page for bulk drug substances nominated for use in compounding, but in different places on it, and the difference matters.8
Ipamorelin acetate sits in category 2 under the 503B interim policy, added 29 September 2023. FDA's stated reasons include immunogenicity risk for certain routes, the presence of unnatural amino acids complicating characterisation, and a published report of serious adverse events including death in a study of ipamorelin for gastric motility.8
CJC-1295 appears in the separate table of nominations later withdrawn by their nominators. FDA's entry there records serious adverse events associated with the compound, including increased heart rate and a systemic vasodilatory reaction, and states that available clinical data are limited.8
Publication trend, 2017 to 2026
A PubMed title/abstract search across 2017 to 2026 returns 18 records for CJC-1295 and 18 for ipamorelin. Both series sit in low single figures for most years and rise in the partial 2026 year, to 9 and 8 respectively.910
The foundational human papers for each are older than this window. CJC-1295 was described in healthy adults in a 2006 endocrinology paper; ipamorelin was characterised as a selective growth hormone secretagogue in 1998. Both are cited constantly in material about these compounds, and both are single studies from the last century or the one before this decade.67
CJC-1295's entire registered record is one terminated phase-2 study from 2005.
The stack has no record of its own
The two compounds are sold and discussed as a combination. In the registry snapshot, no study administers both: CJC-1295's single entry lists CJC 1295 alone, and ipamorelin's two list ipamorelin against placebo or saline.345
Attention against evidence
Between February and June 2026, the CJC-1295 Wikipedia article averaged 10,462 views a month and the ipamorelin article 6,559. Peaks were 11,857 and 7,938.1211

Does the FDA listing mean these compounds are banned?
No. The page cited lists bulk substances nominated for use in pharmacy compounding and what FDA identified when reviewing those nominations. Ipamorelin acetate is in category 2 under the 503B policy; CJC-1295 appears among withdrawn nominations. Neither entry is an approval or a prohibition of the molecule itself.
