This site records two independent things for each compound: how many registered human trials exist, and how many people read its Wikipedia article each month.

They do not track each other. BPC-157 has 2 verified trials and 31,331 monthly readers. Thymosin alpha-1 has 50 trials and 54 readers.

That is a difference in attention of several hundred times, running in the opposite direction to a difference in evidence of more than twenty times.

Attention follows marketing and news. Evidence follows funding and regulation. They are driven by different things and there is no reason to expect them to agree.

This page compares public attention with the trial record across the compounds tracked here. Readership is encyclopedia traffic, not search volume, sales or demand. Nothing here says whether any compound works.

The two numbers, and what each is

Readership here is the monthly average of English Wikipedia pageviews, taken from Wikimedia's public API over complete calendar months. It is an actual count of people who looked something up. It is not search volume, and it is not sales.1

The trial count is the number of registered studies verified as administering the compound to human participants. The two are collected from entirely separate sources and neither influences the other.23

The clearest pair on the site

BPC-157 has 2 verified trials with 162 participants between them, and 31,331 monthly readers. Thymosin alpha-1 has 50 verified trials with 14,247 participants, and 54 monthly readers.123

One compound has roughly ninety times the participants and a tiny fraction of the readers. If attention tracked evidence at all, this pair could not exist.123

It is not a one-off

The pattern is consistent enough to state plainly: on this site, being widely read about is not a sign that a compound has been studied, and being well studied is not a sign that anyone is reading about it.1

Why they come apart

Attention is produced by marketing, forums, news cycles and word of mouth. A compound sold widely to consumers generates lookups whether or not anyone has run a trial on it.1

Evidence is produced by sponsors willing to fund development and regulators requiring it. Thymosin alpha-1 has been studied extensively in clinical settings that generate no consumer conversation whatsoever, which is exactly why almost nobody looks it up.3

Common questions

Is Wikipedia readership a good measure of interest?

It is a narrow one — it counts people who looked up an encyclopedia article. It is reproducible and free, which is why it is used here, and it is not the same as search volume, which no provider publishes for these terms.

Could a compound be well studied outside English-language registries?

Yes, and some are. Several Russian-origin compounds here have clinical histories that English-language registries do not hold. That is a limitation of the record, and it is stated on the pages concerned.

Does high readership mean a compound is popular to buy?

Not necessarily. Reading about something and buying it are different actions, and this site does not measure the second.
