Injection-site rotation as a logging problem

A site map is a memory aid for a plan you already have—not an anatomical guide, an injection tutorial, or permission to use a site.

What a site log can remember

  • The site label selected by the user for a completed entry.
  • The date and full time of the record.
  • The user-created protocol associated with that record.
  • A note the user wants to discuss with a clinician.

What map colors should mean

A map can color a site according to the time since the user last logged it or another explicit rule the user selected. The interface should describe that rule plainly—for example, recently logged—not label a site medically ready, safe, approved, or overused.

A missing record does not prove a site was never used, and an old record does not prove a site is suitable now. The map cannot inspect skin or reconcile the instructions for different products.

Keep the source instruction attached

Rotation instructions can depend on the exact product, route, device, and directions supplied to the user. PepRack should let the user record their plan without replacing those authoritative instructions with a generic rule.

If the plan is unclear, the app should direct the user back to the current product labeling, dispensing pharmacy, or prescribing clinician rather than suggesting a site.

When a record is not enough

A tracker cannot evaluate pain, swelling, infection, injury, an unexpected reaction, or whether a dose was administered correctly. Do not use the map to self-assess a health concern.

Seek appropriate medical help for a concerning reaction, and use emergency services when the situation may be urgent. Logging the event can support a later conversation but should not delay care.

Evidence review status

The following claims are intentionally omitted until an editor verifies them against current primary or authoritative sources:

  • Current product-label instructions for approved sites and rotation for each medication and device.
  • Clinical guidance about site reactions and when to seek care.
  • Any universal rest interval or rule that would label a site ready, safe, or overused.

Frequently asked questions

Will PepRack choose my next injection site?
No. It can show where and when you recorded previous entries. Site choice must follow the exact product instructions and the plan provided by your clinician or pharmacist.
Does a green site on a map mean it is safe to use?
No. A color can only represent a logging rule, such as time since the last entry. It cannot assess the site or override product-specific directions.
Should I rely on the log for a skin reaction?
No. The log cannot assess a reaction. Contact an appropriate healthcare professional, and use emergency services if the situation may be urgent.
